I'm giving Soul Eater a 7/10. Yeah, it has some issues, but at its core it's a fun, energetic and creative series with some strong characters.

This anime series is set at Death Weapon Meister Academy, a training facility for weapon-wielding humans known as meisters, in Death City, Nev. The school's goal is to keep peace in order to prevent the rebirth of the Kishin, an evil god that has previously sent the world into chaos. Each meister at the DWMA is paired with a companion that has both a weapon and human form. Among the meisters is dedicated student Maka Albarn, who is obsessed with achieving a meister's ultimate goal -- turning her weapon partner, Soul Eater, into a death scythe.

Rated PG-13. The content is very dark and bloody, especially in the manga as it progresses. There is minor language in the Funimation dub (ex: 'damn').

At the Shinigami Weaponry Vocational School, humans known as Meisters study. Each Meister has their own partner, who is a human capable of taking on a weapon form. The story follows three of these Meisters and their Weapons. They are Maka Alban and her weapon Soul Eater, Black Star and his weapon Tsubaki, and Death the Kid and his weapons Patricia and Elizabeth Thompson.
