This is a free crochet pattern for creating the Alphabet letters & Numbers C2C Blanket. You can find the complete pattern below. I have included photos and a video tutorial too.
The toddler stood over the alphabet blanket. Proudly, he proclaimed “A! B! C!…” It was obvious that he was only reciting the alphabet from memory rather than actually reading anything as he was clearly pointing to the wrong letters.
Yet, it was a delight to watch him learn and grow. One day, he would be able to read the C2C letter patterns on the alphabet crochet blanket.
Table of Contents
Well, now that we are heading into the Fall and Craft Season, I feel like it’s the perfect time to crochet a C2C blanket that you might give someone as a gift.
It’s the perfect gift for a preschooler who is trying to learn the alphabet, or a preschool teacher for her classroom.
Although this blanket is pretty large, I can totally see it hanging in a classroom or as a nursery decor as a wall hanging making it a perfect personalized wall. If you want to make this pattern smaller, you could simply use the graph (not the written words as they are written for C2C only) and use tapestry crochet and single crochet stitches for each pixel instead of the box stitch as individual squares for C2C.

Written Pattern Instructions for the C2C Alphabet Letters & Numbers Blanket
Pattern Notes for the Basic Instructions and Helpful Tips
The crochet alphabet blanket is made in 7 strips – each line of letters and numbers is made separately. Once finished the blanket pieces are blocked and steamed and sewn together using the mattress stitch. Lastly, a candy cane border is added.
This pattern was made with HDC STITCHES for the Corner to Corner Blanket. Here is an hdc tutorial.
Crochet each strip of letters/numbers separately. All white pixels are aran/white.
C2C Alphabet Letters – C 2 C Graph and Written Instructions
Each row of the Alphabet letters and numbers is shown as a graph and as a row word chart table as word charts for each crochet letterfor easy instructions of this pattern.
Letters A through d are made with Hot Red.
To make it a bit easier, here is the picture “chopped” up. Hope it’s easier the read now. But again, I would suggest getting the pdf.
Thanks to an awesome crocheter we now have the above graph A through d written out for the crochet alphabet blanket. For the “yellow lines” read from left to right (some words are broken up). All rows are diagonal rows.
To understand it better, here is an example: Row 12 says to do 9 white pixels, 1 red pixel, and 2 white pixels.
Letters E through I, use Cherry Red
Letters J through v, use Burgundy yarn.
The letters O through r are made with Burgundy
Letters S through v, use Burgundy yarn.
The letters W through z, use black yarn.
Numbers
Numbers 1 through 0 are made with scarfi yarn
Fasten off and weave in your ends. Your crochet alphabet blanket is nearly finished.
Block the pieces using a steamer and blocking boards (foam is best for these strips). If you need a tutorial, I linked it in the stitch list.
Once you have blocked all your pieces, sew them together using the mattress stitch.
The Border
Now crochet 1 row of single crochets all around the blanket (crochet 2 sc’s per pixel and 2 sc per corner). It should create a stitch count of a multiple of 4 in the end.
Finally, add the Candy Cane border using the colors hot red and black by skipping a stitch between each color. In the corners, crochet both colors in 1 stitch.
Fasten off and weave in your ends.
